"l thank you and everyone concerned with this brilliant idea and permanent memorial to such a brave generation. lt's important to keep informing each generation that comes along the great sacrifices that were made by so many young men and women in the name of freedom.  l know my dad would be very proud and honoured, not just to be remembered in this way, but that it will be a reminder of everyone else who took part in such a historic part of our history. Especially those who made the Ultimate Sacrifice for the freedoms and democracies that were so hard fought for. That was something that was so important to my dad, all those shipmates and friends that didn't come home. He wanted them remembered. As with so many of his generation, he didn't tell us much about the experiences and horrors he went through on the Convoys, but l've been able to put together some of his Service Records. Unfortunately, being in the Royal Navy, there weren't that many details recorded.

Thanking you once again."

"Thank you for letting me know that my father’s name is now on the Normandy Memorial Wall. I hope to be able to visit and see it for myself, very soon.

"The family are proud to know that his name will be there for everyone to see and I hope many more names

of those brave men will be added this year."

"Thank you for your email, we also think that the Memorial Wall is moving tribute to those who served, Dad was a Portsmouth man, something the whole family can show to  the young children."

"Thank you for your email and photographs, it's great that "Dad's " plaque is now on the Memorial Wall at

the D Day Story. I have told my brothers and sisters, we will get together in the very near future and view the plaque together!"

"Thank you so much for letting me know the memorial brick is in place, I can't wait to see it and will go down there today. Don was my Grandad and passed away 23 years ago this week, so it is lovely to have a tribute

to him. We have been regular visitors to the DDay museum over the years, always looking for a trace of him,

so I am very happy to have his name on the wall, it means a lot."

"Don left from Warsash and landed on Sword Beach on D-Day. My Grandmother received a letter on the 6th June 1944, asking her to marry him. She was unaware of where he was or what he was doing! They always regarded that date as the day they got engaged and we still have the letter. We are very lucky he was one of the ones who made it home and our family is here today!"

Thanks again,

Kind Regards,

"When we visited the D Day museum recently, we were so impressed with the displays, and I am sure you will be getting a lot more visitors. My brother was also part of the Heritage Lottery Committee when the museum applied for a grant, so he was delighted to see how great the building now looks.

I look forward to hearing from you as and when you are able to arrange my father’s brick, which will give us the pleasure of another visit."

Kind regards,

Merlyn

"Just to say a big thank you for your email with included photo of the commemorative brick for our father Leonard Fordham, makes us very proud, we are hoping to visit in the next few weeks to view the wall for ourselves, hopefully, father will come with us but it’s  quite a long journey for him these days."
